About
The RT-I is a rescue knife based on the Bundeswehr's LL80 Gravity Knife.
It features a hooked blade with a serrated cutting edge. The handle is made from glass-reinforced nylon. There is an integrated glass breaker, as well as a fold-out slotted screwdriver which can also be used as a marlin spike.
Clothing, belts, straps or core coated ropes up to 11mm present no problem for the RT-I. The blade can be opened with one hand, even with gloves, at no risk to the end user.
Please note that the following is not legal advice. Should you be doubtful about the RT-I's legality, you should reach out to a lawyer specialising in weapons law.
The RT-I was developed following the frame of reference laid out in BKA-Feststellungsbescheid Z-20 (2003), making it a Tool, not a Knife. Later, in Feststellungsbescheid Z-543 (2022), the BKA confirmed that for purposes of § 42a WaffG, this style of tool is not considered a one-handed Knife, and furthermore that "Verbotsnormen" are not applicable, thus making it both legal to own and carry in Germany. In our view, all of these determinations apply to the RT-I.
